 When is the next submission DEADLINE?
For the June 2009 edition, the submission deadlines are:
- Early Deadline: Postmarked by November 30th, 2008 (entry fee $30)
- Final Deadline: Postmarked by March 15, 2009 (entry fee $50)
Postmarked by = Submission packages can be mailed until the day of the deadline. + SUBMIT

 How do i submit an entry form?
Click SUBMIT, and follow the instructions. The entire process takes about 15 minutes. At the end of the online submission process your application is saved in our database and it can be later retrieved, edited, and printed from any computer.

 I submitted the online entry form, what do i do now?
Your submission will be processed only when we receive your complete submission package:
- Signed Entry Form
- Entry Fee
- DVD copy of the movie (NTSC or PAL)

 What is the shipping address for submission packages?

 How can i pay the entry fee?
Option 1) Pay ONLINE (PayPal or Credit Card) CLICK HERE TO PAY ONLINE
Option 2) SEND PAYMENT with your submission package: we accept Checks, Travelers checks, Bank checks, or Money Orders. All checks must be in US dollars, be drawn on a bank in the U.S. and made payable to BIFF, Inc. Contact us if you want to pay by Bank Wire. Note that Bank Wires are subject to an additional $10 to cover our bank's incoming wire transfer fee.

 How many films can I submit?
As many as you like. Although each film must have its own screening copy, signed submission form, and entry fee. DO NOT submit multiple projects on the same DVD. Additionally, we recommend that you use the same main email address for all your submissions.

 In which film categories do you accept submissions?
Categories: Feature Narrative, Short Narrative, Experimental, Documentary, Animation. + rules

 Did you receive/select my submission?
To check the status of your package or to see if the film has been selected or not, click MY SUBMISSIONS. Note that we send a confirmation email for of all packages that we receive. If you sent your package close to a submission deadline, it may take a few days before we open all the packages, the status updated, and the confirmation email sent for all packages.

 Can i update my submission?
YES! Click MY SUBMISSIONS and enter your email and password to CHECK THE STATUS, EDIT, and PRINT your application.

 When will I be notified if my film has been accepted?
The 12h Brooklyn International Film Festival will take place in June 2009. Filmmakers selected for the festival will be notified via email by May 10th, 2009. Not selected films will be notified via email when the full lineup is complete and confirmed (around May 15th).

 Is the festival competitive?
YES. Through the resources of industry-related sponsors, the festival awards the winners with a total of approximately US $80,000 in film services and cash. + AWARDS

 Screening Format for selected films:
The projects selected for the Festival, if not available on a 35mm film print, will be projected in HDCam, Digi-Beta, Beta, DV-Cam or MiniDV formats. We accept both NTSC and PAL. Due to technical constraints, BiFF no longer accepts 16mm screening copies. + requirements

 Will i receive feedback or comments on my film?
NO. Due to the high volume of submissions received every year, we are unable to provide feedback on your film.

 How many submissions do you receive every year?
For the past few editions the festival received over 2000 submissions. A live counter of the submissions received so far for the current edition is available at the statistics page.

 When is the next festival?
BiFF's 12th edition is scheduled to run for ten days in early June 2009.

 Can I submit my film if previously screened at other festivals?
YES. There is no maximum number of festivals at which the film may be screened. The "New York Premiere" status is preferred, but not mandatory.

 Can I release my film theatrically or on broadcast television before the Festival?
Entries shall not have theatrical release or be broadcast anywhere in the U.S.A. before the last day of the festival. Previous screening at other festivals, as well as industry, press, and private screenings are OK.

 I want to submit but I can't get past the "Step 1: your email address" page. What's wrong?
If after entering your email address in Step 1, you are taken back to the same page, cookies are disabled on your browser. Cookies MUST be enabled to submit, edit or check the status of your submission. To correct the problem, visit our enabling cookies page.

 Which Preview Copy Formats do you accept?
Entries must be submitted on DVD. BiFF accepts both PAL and NTSC formats. Region 1 (US&Canada) and region 0 (no region) are preferred but we accept DVDs in all regions. We recommend that you TEST your disk on a stand-alone DVD player BEFORE sending it to our offices. + requirements

 Are there any time restrictions?
Narrative Features must be no less than 70 minutes. Narrative Short films not longer than 70 minutes. Documentary, Animation, and Experimental categories have no time restrictions. + rules

 Can I submit a work-in-progress or "rough cut"?
Works-in-progress are considered only if submitted during the LAST TWO WEEKS PRIOR THE FINAL SUBMISSION DEADLINE (between March 1st and March 15th). Fimmakers might submit a Work-in-progress only if the film is scheduled to be completed at least 3 weeks before the beginning of the festival (June). Please list directly on the tape/disk box which elements of your film are missing.

 Do you have a printable version of the entry form?
The festival strongly encourages filmmakers to submit using the online entry form, however, a printable entry form can be requested via email but ONLY during the FINAL SUBMISSION DEADLINE (after Nov 30th).

 How many films do you accept in the festival?
We estimate that the next festival line-up will include about 120 films.

 I submitted my film last year but it was not selected. Can I resubmit my film?
To resubmit a film, the film must be significantly re-edited. A film may be resubmitted more than once if it has been worked on in the last year.

 Where are the selected films shown?
The official venues of the festival are the Brooklyn Lyceum and Brooklyn Heights Cinema. + more info
